You can choose the next step for a pending Manta Bridge deposit once you check its Ethereum transaction status. A delay can happen before Ethereum accepts the deposit or while Manta Pacific credits it. Manta Pacific is an Ethereum layer 2 network, which handles activity separately from Ethereum.
An Ethereum Confirmation Starts the Manta Pacific Deposit
A deposit first needs a successful Ethereum transaction. The bridge then holds your ETH or supported token on Ethereum and sends a message that credits it on Manta Pacific. Think of a parcel: the counter must accept it before delivery can begin.
Find the transaction hash, a long code in your wallet’s activity, and look it up on an Ethereum block explorer. That is a site showing transactions recorded by the network. Ethereum.org’s bridge walkthrough describes the two stages; the Ethereum status tells you which stage to check.
Transaction Status Tells You the Next Move
The next move depends on what Ethereum recorded. Check these outcomes before signing anything else:
- Pending: Ethereum has not included the transaction in a block.
- Successful: Ethereum accepted the deposit transaction.
- Failed: Ethereum recorded the transaction, but the deposit did not go through.
- Approval only: You allowed a token transfer, but have not made the deposit.
If it is pending, the deposit has not started its trip to Manta Pacific. During congestion, Ethereum’s base fee, its minimum processing price, can rise above your transaction’s fee cap. The transaction may wait minutes or hours until fees fall or you replace it.
If it succeeded, check your wallet on Manta Pacific and allow time for the credit. That stage often takes additional minutes after Ethereum confirms. If the balance is still missing, check the receiving network and token, then track the deposit using its hash.
If it failed, no deposit was made, though Ethereum still charged for processing the attempt. Check the failed transaction’s record before trying again. A successful token approval is different: it only lets the bridge use a supported token, such as USDC or USDT, for a later deposit.
Waiting and Speeding Up Have Different Costs
Waiting adds no new transaction fee; speeding up offers more to get a pending transaction included sooner. The Manta Ethereum bridge deposit needs ETH for Ethereum gas, the fee for network work, even when depositing a token. Ethereum.org explains that gas prices rise with demand.
For an illustrative 100,000-gas transaction, 30 gwei costs 0.003 ETH; 100 gwei costs 0.01 ETH. Gwei is a small unit of ETH used to quote gas prices. Actual gas use varies, and a token approval may require its own paid transaction.
If time matters, use your wallet’s speed-up option on the pending transaction. It sends a replacement with the same nonce, or transaction order number, and a higher fee. Check which transaction is pending: speeding up an approval does not submit the deposit. Never start another deposit while the first could still confirm, since both might go through.
For the Manta bridge app, first check the old transaction’s status and whether your token is supported. If the deposit failed, use the Manta Bridge to make a fresh Ethereum-to-Manta Pacific deposit when the fee fits your budget. Final checklist: old status checked; Ethereum and Manta Pacific selected; token checked; enough ETH left for gas.
